NBA Playoffs Heat Up, WNBA Stars Shine, Trump-Xi Summit & Murdaugh Shocker

U.S. & World Headlines

President Donald Trump is in Beijing for a multi-day summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The leaders discussed trade deals, technology competition, the ongoing war in Iran, and tensions over Taiwan—where Xi warned that mishandling the issue could lead to conflict. A state banquet capped day one, with both sides hailing improved ties. Business leaders including Tim Cook and Elon Musk attended.

In other major U.S. news, the South Carolina Supreme Court overturned Alex Murdaugh’s double-murder convictions in a unanimous decision. The court ruled that Colleton County Clerk of Court Rebecca “Becky” Hill improperly influenced the jury by suggesting jurors could not trust Murdaugh’s testimony. A new trial has been ordered. South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson said the state will retry the case “as soon as possible,” stating, “No one is above the law.”
