According to police, a person was fatally hit by a vehicle after trying to cross the road on the Northwest Side Sunday morning.
The incident occurred on the 4900 block of Northwest Loop 410 around 5 a.m. on Sunday.
Officials say a woman was driving westbound on Loop 410 and was unable to avoid hitting a person she saw running northbound on Loop 410, so immediately stopped to call the police.
A witness who returned to the scene says she also someone run across the road after she drove by but did not see the person get hit by the vehicle. However, when she saw the vehicle pull over she decided to return to the scene.
The person was pronounced dead but there is no positive identification at this time. Authorities did not release then gender of the victim either.
No charges or signs of intoxication on the driver was made, according to police.
